Today we made a dialogue for our French teacher as homework. She jokingly requested a science fiction dialogue, but we decided to take her up on it. I've put the French and English both below. This is the very edge of my french ability, so it gives a very good idea of what we've learned. (Of course, we looked up many of the conjugations from our notes, and used Word to correct our mistakes.) Naturally the story uses negation, verbs, and our new clothing vocabulary, because we're good students who want to use what we've learned (and show off some).
L'histoire de notre voyage à l'espace extra-atmospherique. (Acte un)
The story of our voyage to outer space. (Act one)
A: Aujourd'hui, nous voyageons à Mars dans l'astronef.
Today we voyage to Mars in our spaceship.
D: Nous devons avoir vêtements pour notre voyage cosmos.
We must have our clothes for our trip to the cosmos.
D: Je pense nous avons ils en le grenier...
I think they are in the attic…
A: Voilà! Ici est nos chapeaux de l'espace. Et voilà! Ma salopette cosmos.
Here! Here are our space hats. And here! My space overalls.
D: Où sont mes gants cosmos? Et les bottes de cosmos... nous voulons ils.
Where are my space gloves? And the space boots… we want them.
A: Les voici!
Here they are!
D: D'accord! Au vaisseau spatial! On y va!
Ok. To the space vessel! Let's go!
D: Mais attendre! Nous devons prendre notre chien cosmos! Ici, Astro! Aller!
But wait! We must take our space dog. Here Astro! Come!
C : Aboie!
Woof!
A: Dans le bateau, nous voulons savoir où aller. Où est le plan de l'espace?
In the ship, we want to know where to go. Where is the space map?
D: Je ne sais pas où est le plan espace.
I don't know where the space map is.
A: Voici, in la boîte des gants. (Dennis ouvrir le plan et lire.)
Here it is, in the glove box. (Dennis opens the map and reads.)
A: Allons a Mars?
Let's go to Mars?
D: Nous ne voulons pas un plan. Aller! On y va haut!
We don't want the map. Let's go! Let's go up!
D: Tu as un briquet? Nous devons allumer ça fusée.
Do you have a lighter? We have to light the fuse.
A: Mon Dieu! Tu prends mon briquet.
My god! Take my lighter.
D: *le son d'une brise*
*the sound of the breeze*
A: Nous partons la terre dans le bateau espace. Nous voyons des étoiles et les planètes.
We leave the earth in our space ship. We see the stars and the planets.
D: Où est la gravite?
Where is the gravity?
A: C'est très amusement! Je sais! Regardons à Saturne!
This is so funny! I know! Let's look at Saturn!
D: Je pense nous prenons un gauche ici. D'accord?
I think we take a left here. Do you agree?
A: D'accord. Voilà! C'est magnifique!
I agree. There it is! It's magnificent!
D: Est-ce nous faisons maintenant?
What do we do now?
A: Nous avons le vin?
Do we have wine?
D: Bien sur! Donner moi le tire-bouchon!
Of course! Give me the corkscrew!
A: Mais, nous n'avons pas la gravite!
But, we don't have any gravity!
D: Nous avons vin cosmos en le sac.
We have space wine in a sac.
A: Très bon! Santé!
