Dennis & Aimee's Big Gay Paris Adventure

Today we walked through the old town, to visit the old gothic cathedral. You know, the one that rings its bells for at least a full hour each day? Not to mention the night watchman who calls out the time from all four sides of the bell tower each night. Ok, to be fair, yesterday was Sunday -- the ringing has eased up a bit today.

To get there, we walked up this covered stairway (this is only a portion of it) that was built in the middle ages:

And you have to admit, it's a hell of an organ!



We also visited some Roman Ruins from 15BC. I had no idea that the Romans even MADE concrete, but these stones are pasted together with a concrete-like mortar. Further research showed that the massive dome of the Pantheon is made of concrete, and it was built in 125AD. I also read that, using current concrete technology, the Pantheon dome would collapse under its own weight, so they clearly had something figured out that we don't. We also saw this awesome and crazy chateau, which isn't open to the public, but it's an excellent castle from the outside:

We walked a ton, and we didn't get rained on until the very end. Now it's time to go find some dinner. Maybe sushi tonight! I can't eat any more cheese.
